Week 113

L - Rad - I love the NGV Studio in Federation Square, its an active little space focusing on 'youth' apparently! Currently there is an exhibition called Board which presents a collection of 1970s & 80s skateboards and ephemera from Tony Hallam’s (Australian Skateboarder) collection alongside contemporary decks created for the exhibition, it explores the evolution of board graphics and design. I have a blank deck of Shane's at home that I have been meaning to do something with...now I feel inspired.

R - Just Drop Some Turkey on the Floor and Stop Taking Pictures - HAPPY THANKSGIVING! I have grown to love this American holiday (as has Diego) you get 4 days in a row off work, and get to eat your face off!

Week 112

L - New Shoes - We had a wedding to attend this weekend and I decided on a very high pair of new shoes to finish off my outfit! Wowsers....they are my fabulous disco shoes! So I decided to add a crazy gold bokeh overlay for added effect!

R - Good Idea.....Spotted on the streets of downtown Brooklyn, snapped on my phone.

Week 111

L - Setting a Scene - I have been messing around with some styling for the first few of my prints I plan to post up in my online shop and I like how this looked...sunny and relaxing!

R - Fall Leaves! It's my token AUTUMN photo, the leaves are changing, it's beautiful.

Weeks 109 and 110

Week 109

L - Letterpress - We had a sad week as we had to say goodbye to our little dog Zak after 18 years (I have only been around for 8 of them) so to take my mind of it I immersed myself in creative projects my first being setting some metal type and trying out my Letter press machine. Super exciting - it worked too. Some results to follow soon.

R - Do you smell bacon? Thought I'd save you from the gory site that was my face, and just show the creepy halloween masks we wore this year, the make up turn out creepy awesome and luckily all the blood washed out.

Week 110

L - Hail Storm - The weather has been crazy in Melbourne over the last few days...sunny then rain..sunny then rain! Tropical almost, which sucks cause my hair gets it's frizz on but its awesome because we get heaps of thunder and lightning storms. YAY. These gigantic hailstones were falling from the skies, awesome.

R - Old School Shed - We were down in Virginia visiting C's Mum and staying with some friends who have just bought a new house in the burbs. They have a fantastic back garden with this old shed which has something creepy horror movie about it. Love the shape, the leaves changing etc.

Week 108

L - Crazy Babies! A parade of giant demonic babies engaged in a battle of good and evil have invaded central Melbourne as part of the Melbourne International Arts Festival. Crazy babies alright!! Its caused quite the stir in Melbourne though...

R - Too Many Drinks - Really cheating this week, and doing 2 pics from our trip to New Orleans! We had such a great time it was hard to choose which photos to use for side by side. So the French Quarter (spared by Katrina) is beautiful all except Borbon Street which is a clusterf**k of tourists and drunk frat boys. It was however a lot of fun and we had a signature Hurricane like all the best tourists! There's something about being able to walk around with a drink in your hands 24hrs a day that brings out the party animal in people!

Week 107

L - Coffee Art - With my brother visiting over the last few weeks, we have been sampling the coffee delights of Melbourne. One of the best both in taste, and for the amazing Barista skills. The place is called Manchester Press named after the old printing press office that used to be in the building. It might be my fave place in Melb at the moment.

R - VooDoo - This is a wee snapshot of the resting place of the Voodoo Priestess Marie Laveau in New Orleans. People draw 3 X's on the side in the hope that she will grant them a wish. A picture I took of the front shows all the offerings that people have left for her. So cool, but I have to admit it was a little creepy!

Week 106

L - Modern History - It was my Birthday and I am now 33! Eek. One of my wonderful gifts was a refurbished 70s polariod SX-70 camera! Its fantastic...although I am a little scared to use it because the film costs so much! Also in the shot is some photos of me as a kid taken with our trusty polaroid. My Dad would get film from work and as a result A LOT of my old photos are polaroids. You can see my awesome birthday costume where I was dressed as a domino - I think I was 9 or so. Random!

R - Parachute of Love - Scamus and Amanda got married this past weekend and we were up in DC for the festivities! This is snap of a parachute that was over the courtyard where they got married to protect us form the sun. So lovely!

Friday, October 7, 2011

Week 105

L - Is that a chicken? I went to take some shots of these and it was too dark last week and I tried again the other day when we were visiting sadly its a phone shot! These are Japanese silky chickens! No I did not make that up and I also did not take a crap photo where you can't see any eyes or beaks etc this is what they look like. They freak me out because you can't tell what there are up to - they are like toilet brushes on legs! So funny!

R - Loaded Longboard - I tried out longboarding in central park with the NYSG, loved it and my new longboard is on it's way!

Week 104 - 2 Years!

L - Haste Ye Back -  have been working on a little Scottish print for my spare bedroom, which I have decided is going to have a bit of a flavour of home. Haste ye back is Doric for come back soon.
I have designed the whole print myself and after a lot of changes and layouts. I am super happy with it. I also got a modern deer head from Pulp to add to the 'theme'.

R - Bright Idea - Nothing too exciting this week, was struggling to think of some ideas for a photo, then I lay down on my bed and there it was.....

Friday, September 23, 2011

Week 103

L - Primary Positive - Random photo alert. Shane is like a Womble and likes to re-purpose and recycle. Anyway, he has few car batteries ready to be taken to the recycling place and I was liking the colour and shapes of them all lines up. Primary colours a plenty.

R - Chairs on The High Line - I walked The High Line with Michaela on friday before a wee bit of Soho shopping and I discovered these chairs that I didn't see last time. Great colour combo, giving me paint ideas for the apartment

Week 102

L - Chocolicious! I made Molten Chocolate Puddings on the weekend - Yummers! This is typical of me, but the remaining chocolate that I didn't use has sat in the packet for the last few days and I don't have any inclination to eat it. Its a family joke that I could sit with an open packet of chocolate and not eat it - much to the dismay of my Mum and Bro. I look at it as one of my key skills in life, cause I reckon I would be a few kgs heavier if I didn't have it! :-)

R - Goodies from Scotland - Michaela came to visit, she brought goodies, mum sent goodies, it's almost too much to take!

Thursday, September 8, 2011

Week 101

L - The weather has been fantastic and it looks like Winter has gone and Spring is here. We have a big old fig tree in our back garden and the leaves and little figs are already popping out all over the tree. (oh and a little overlay action - Prismatic Paper 2 overlay from lostandtaken.com/)

R - Not the most exciting photo from the weekend, but we did a crazy hike up Mount Major and were rewarded with an amazing view across the lake including a view of Keniston Island where we were staying. We called the neighbours and had them signal us by reflecting the sunlight on a mirror, very cool!

Week 100!

L - X marks the spot! X marks 100!! Wow we have been doing this for 100 weeks! That sounds nuts! This is a random metal 'thing' Shane found and thought I might like it to paint or something and turn into a door stop or similar. I indeed do like it's industrial look and after a bit of filing and grinding (by Shane) its had its first coat of white paint and is already looking better. A paper weight perhaps?

R - Best dance floor EVER!  was at my friend Tricia's wedding last friday which was rescheduled from Saturday to avoid the hurricane - STRESS! Got some fun shots of everyone getting down on the LED illuminated dance floor! yeah!

Wednesday, August 24, 2011

Week 99

L - From the Shadows - We headed up to the snow this past weekend for some snowboarding! Its much like spring here which is WAY too early and it looks like the snow wont hang around this year sad :-( Still we had a great time with what is there and enjoyed the sunshine! Ooh and I got a new snowboard which was all kinds of awesome!!

R - EARTHQUAKE! here was an earthquake just south of DC we got quite the shake up here, was scary! we haven't had earthquake evacuation training though so no one really knew what to do. Eventually we
went out the emergency exit, I laughed at the sign! Oh and this is Rebecca!

Week 98

L - A Snail's Pace - I am kinda fascinated by snails in that they appear from dark damp places when the rain appears and slide around the back garden and then disappear again. Crazy crawlies!

R - Lady Liberty - Scott and Katie came to visit, we went on the Staten Island Ferry, drank cheap beer and got this nice shot of the lady herself!

Wednesday, August 10, 2011

Week 97

L - Lovely Gift - My job is a dull place these days with the many 'characters' shall we say moving on. I know you are there to work but a bit of fun never hurt anyone.
Anyway, Jane (or Jane-O/Janester as I would call her) was my creative outlet in my otherwise dull day. She worked at reception and always happy to have a chat about some new idea or just bounce my artistic ideas off. She left last week and gave me the loveliest little gift to say thanks for supporting her and generally being crazy old me. With my wee pressie she picked a fresh poesy of spring (early) blossom and blue gum leaves. So great...THANK YOU JANE-O!!

R - Vintage cameras at the flea - There are all sorts of treasures at the Brooklyn Flea and the vintage cameras have to be my favourite! a touch of ye olden days on the edit and this is what you get.....

Tuesday, August 9, 2011

Week 96

L - Fruits of my labour - Well a couple of weeks ago I posted a pic of my Lemon tree and this week I thought i would post a pic of my efforts using the yummy lemons. So I cheated a little and used a pastry case, mainly because I didn't have quite the right tin. The rest is all home made! Yummers.

R - Bare Bulb - this is from the bathroom in one of my favourite neighbourhood bars I enjoy the concrete, that's all really! oh and we can bring diego there, so we go a lot :)

Week 95

L - Melbourne Institution - Victoria Bitter or VB is quite the institution in Melbourne and of course Victoria! I am not a huge fan myself but I am a fan of this sign which I see when I drive to the city! Normally I am driving and its a very busy road so stopping somewhere to snap it is always hard. However, on a Sunday jaunt with Shane into the city - I managed to think fast and snap this out of the window of the car. Yes the car was moving and I took 1 and only 1 photo. The vintage feel was all natural too just a grey dull day = this pic and I love it.

R - Zombie! Perhaps a little random this week, but we had a wee bit of a bowling party for one of our lab mates who is leaving. We bought some sticky toys (including eyeballs) from gumball dispenser things and this is what happened!

Friday, July 22, 2011

Week 94

L - You know the score! Last week was EXCITING - for me anyway! I went to watch my football team Celtic who had come all the way from Scotland to play Melbourne's 'soccer' team The Victory! My wonderful team won 1-0...phew I am glad because I was talking them up BIG time! ;-) I took a heap of photos but I really liked this which shows a bit of the awesome AAMI stadium, the crowd and you can just see the rain in the top right corner! Yeah the rain...that was a shame!

R - Holding up the bridge - We had friends in town last weekend and did some good touristy walks. The view of/from the Brooklyn Bridge will NEVER grow old!

Thursday, July 14, 2011

Week 93

L - A squeeze of lemon? After a quite a few years in Oz, I still get excited by having a lemon tree in my back garden! Winter is actually one of the biggest citrus growing seasons and luckily we have a very old established tree which just hangs with Lemons year round! Although, there is only so much you can do with lemons...its Lemon meringue pie this weekend I think ;-)

R - Magical Unicorns - This a quick snapshot of a boarded up building that is being worked on, you can see the permits on the left hand side and center. Luckily some artist decided that the plain old boards needed to be spangled up and put these lovely unicorns there.

Week 92

L - Double pot of gold perhaps? Ahhh...what a wonderful sight on your way to work....brings a smile to anyone's face I think. It really does sum up Melbourne's weather, sunny one minute, raining the next! In this case both at the same time! I didn't react to the wonderful sight like this guy though!

R - SHARP as a knife - Not the best photo in the world, I took it half hanging out the window with my zoom lens because I was too lazy to go downstairs. This is an old hipster van that drives around the neighbourhood every few weeks to see if you need any of your knives sharpening, so old school, so awesome!

Week 91

L - Attack of the Craft! - Well it has been a busy week or two, its the end of the tax year here and I have been taking care of some things here and there. When I wasn't doing that, I was mostly enjoying my newly renovated studio. Oh and I also bought a tonne of new books, of which these are a few which are waiting for some serious reading! This photo is really summing things up for me at the moment. Lost of ideas on the go - hopefully some that I will be sharing soon! ;-)

R - Which came first? - we have been growing some red chili seeds that came pre-planted in this egg, we thought nothing was going to grow but suddenly the egg began to sprout. I used my newly updated softboxpro app that now has colours to cast some green light onto the egg. I'm pretty pleased with the result, but I could have done with an assistant to hold the ipad while I set up the shot.

Week 90

L - 99 Brunswick Street - 'm cheating a little this week as this is from the previous week, BUT I love everything about it and I couldn't let it slip by unnoticed. Plus with my Mum visiting and overall rubbish weather I never got that chance to get out and take some pics. Anyway, it's a small section from Window 99 Brunswick Street in Fitzroy. Which is an installation space at you guessed it 99 Brunswick St. I love the liitle egg cup figure, the shoes in the picture, the cotton reels and also mostly loving the reflection of the building across the street in the glass of the window.

R - The High Line - Really cheating this week, this is a photo of a billboard *gasp* but I thought it was better than any of the photos I took. So we went to check out The High Line which is just opened a new section. It's a park built on an old railway that is a few stories off the ground and runs between buildings and pretty close to apartment windows. It's such a great idea, and so awesomely designed. It was super crowded but really worth the trip it was crazy busy up there and I felt a little bit like a salmon swimming upstream at times and it was hard to take photos without blocking the path or getting swept up by the crowds. This billboard picture was of the high line before it was turned into a park and if you check out the webpageyou can see some of the after pics.

Week 89

L - Hipster Crochet Bike - This was just some of the randomness that Melbourne is famous for. I was in the city over the weekend and we saw this random crochet covered bike in locked up against a lamp post. Not too sure what it was all about but they were doing a 12hr 'Knit In' in Federation Square so I can only presume it had something to do with that. Nonetheless super fun!

R - Strewth, we're under attack! This one is for you Leslie, taken at the Renegade Craft Fair. Do you come from a land down under?

Friday, June 10, 2011

Week 88

L - Blast from the past -I went to a vintage market on the weekend and picked up some odds and ends. I have a collection of wooden rulers on the wall and these are more for the collection. Some vintage sizing tape from France, and some other stuff.

R - SoftboxPro iPad app - My attempt at something a little bit Art Class. I found this awesome iPad softbox/lightbox app that allows you to choose from various patterns/shapes to illuminate objects. I though this glass mug would be a good subject to highlight the lightbox part of my photo and not the object. I enjoy the simplicity of the lightbox with no pattern, but had trouble choosing between this one and another with the overhead light casting some orange into the shot.

Week 87

L - Life on the other side - My cat Missy does not get out onto the street and has to stay behind the gate in our garden (1 part me being a worried owner and 1 part being the law in my area). She often stares out the the gate dreaming of the other side. So I had the idea of showing her staring out and what is on the other side.

R - Blacklight - As part of the Memorial Day Weekend Drink Fest we went to The Bushwich Country Club to sample their tasty pickle back and some cheesypoofs that they have on the bar! yum! Anyhoo, the bathroom has a black light so all the graffiti glows. I enjoy the "+ other parts"

Thursday, May 26, 2011

Week 86

L - By Candle Light - Average week for me. Winter is here with both it's damp yuk weather and its usual colds and flu! I have succumbed to a cold and have done nothing much more than stay warm indoors. So this is just a cozy photo from the week. Simple.

R - Graffitilicious - You can imagine my delight when I stumbled across this huge graffiti wall on East Houston at Bowery! I took this from the middle of the street with a wide focal length so you can see a little curvature in the street which is fun. I thought the wall was more interesting with the people in the foreground to show some scale.

Friday, May 20, 2011

Week 85

L - Evil Flower - This is a phone photo but I had to use it. Its a malformed Gerbera flower...with a mutation where one stem has tried to form two heads (they are a single headed flower). It looks Eeeeeviilllll! I thought this was brilliant.

R - A Night at the Theater - We went to our lovely friend Regina's wedding which was very Hollywood Glam and set in a theater. She's an actor, he works in theater so it was very appropriate. I didn't have my SLR, just a wee point and shoot but I got this shot of the photo booth that their photographer had set up. It was so much fun, everyone just grabbed the remote and some props (hats, boxing gloves, whiteboard/pens) and got creative. I soooooo need to have one of these when I get married, such a great idea. I struggled to choose between this photo and another where you can see the smear of the flying bouquet. Fun fun fun evening at the theater!

Week 84

L - Forever Temporary - The ever changing Hosier Lane in Melbourne is one of my favourite places to go. Something new every time you visit from something small to larger works like this one. Brilliant. Sadly, unlike the what it says it won't be forever and will most likely have developed into something completely different the next time I visit. Love it.

R - Helicopters - First it was the tree pollen, then all the cherry blossoms and now these wee helicopter seeds. I love the way all of the tree related things have fallen and been caught by the uneven pavement sections. The cherry blossom was great and I missed it, but managed to catch this vibrant green.

Friday, May 6, 2011

Week 83

L - Abstract Glow - I got up early last Saturday and while sitting eating breakfast I saw the wonderful pattern the sun was making as it pushed through the blinds. The colour also just happened all by itself. I like the abstract Bokeh look.....

R - New Hiding Spot - Excuses excuses this week...too many things on not enough hours in the day for editing photos. The other morning little D was sad we were getting ready to go out and he hid behind the curtain in our room with his sad pouty face on :( so dramatic!

Thursday, April 28, 2011

Week 82

L - Sunny Skies and Lazy Days - We had an extra long Easter weekend here with a 5 day weekend. We headed for the hills and explored the mountains up at Falls Creek in Victoria. The cooler climate and mountain air brings the best out of the trees around this area and we saw a lovely array of reds, oranges and yellow. I took a heap of photos but this was my fave of the sun just peaking through the yellow leaves

R - The Lone Tulip - There's a patch of dirt in the neighbourhood where the dogs like to pee. Standing there so proudly is this single yellow tulip screaming to have its photo taken - only the strong survive!

Wednesday, April 20, 2011

Week 81

L - Autumnal Art - I was in the city on the weekend at the Melbourne Comedy Festival and while we were waiting to go into the show we saw people sticking stuff to a wall. Intrigued after the show we went over to the wall and could see that people had been picking up the Autumn leaves and sticking them to the wall. How I hear you say! Well the wall has a very thin flow of water running down it and the leaves were sticking to it without being flushed away. I am not sure if this was some sort of intentional installation or it just happened by chance. You never know in Melbourne.

R - Freedom Tower - Cheating a little this week due to my illness and am using a photo from last weekend. So we went for a wee look see of the new World Trade Center construction - 1 WTC or Freedom Tower (and to Century 21 of course). It looks like it's about 1/3 done and is going to be huge and shiny and awesome. There is also a little museum where you can go and see the plans for the site, it looks like there are going to be several new buildings and 2 reflection pools in the old footprints of the original towers. It looks like it's going to be awesome down there, shame it has taken so long to get the construction started.

Friday, April 15, 2011

Week 80

L - Can you see the man on the moon? - There has been a beautiful crescent moon here for the last week or so and I set up the tripod and shot some pics out the back door of our house. It was a tough choice this week but the simple moon with a couple of stars won.

R - The Red and The Blue -Before I was struck down with a nasty stomach bug, we had a lovely brunch in DUMBO for my birthday. I enjoy the colours in this a lot!

Thursday, April 7, 2011

Week 79

L - The Beautiful Mundane - I had planned to shoot some photos in the city this weekend passed...alas housework and the like took over and I didn't quite make it. A good housework day is worth the effort, clean bed sheets rock!! You can also see a hint of my refurbished 60s bedside tables in the shot.

R - Colour! BAM! This past weekend I took mum to the visit the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, the weather was amazing, the cherry blossoms were beginning to flower and the exotic plants were very colourful.

Wednesday, March 30, 2011

Week 78

L - Finders Keepers Market - I headed to the wonderful Finders Keepers craft market or should I say Indie craft market. A large shed or warehouse in Melbourne's Docklands crammed full of creative goodness. Needless to say I found and kept plenty of good stuff. Sadly not one of these retro lamps...they are super cool though.

R - Dog Days - This week I took some photos for my friend Julia who owns Bark Slope Salon in Park Slope, Brooklyn. This was the 12 o'clock, who had the best expression whilst standing in the tub!

Tuesday, March 22, 2011

Week 77

L - Thinking of Japan - I bought this Tokyo cut out postcard this time last year when I visited Japan, and I have been thinking a lot about the place. I really did fall in love with the country and the people and I feel so bad for those who lost their lives and/or homes. Anyway, I googled the Japanese flag and held the postcard up to the screen...ta da...this weeks pic.

R - On the D - I took my camera (and fisheye) to work this morning with the intention of getting some shots of the building I work in, but snapped this on the train instead. I mostly enjoy the reflection.

Thursday, March 17, 2011

Week 76

A special dog posting this week, big love to Zak x

L - Old Man Zak - We got some sad news about our 17year old dog Zak the other day and we don't expect him to be around for too much longer. The vet found a tumour in his abdomen, for now he is all good and eating and jumping around like a fool when its time for a walk. It is to be expected I guess at his age. We are enjoying our time with him and spoiling him rotten for the time being. This week is dedicated to the old boy :-)

R - She's a maniac, maniac on the floor...So we are looking after little Meche (Cesar's mum's dog), she's hilarious and loves to play dress up HA! It was hard to choose between this photo and another shot from when she made herself comfortable on the bed after I stripped it to take to the laundromat. Meche means little tuft of hair in Spanish, which is very appropriate, but I've had to practice my Spanish as she doesn't really get english or just enjoys ignoring me. Ooooh and we've recently discovered that if she isn't a Chinese Crested Powder Puff, she has some in her (oooooer). Someone told us about the breed, and then we met one on the street last night and she definitely has the characteristics of a powder puff - silly name! I only knew of the hairless dogs, but apparently there's a recessive gene and in every litter there are some powder puffs shazzam!

Wednesday, March 9, 2011

Week 75

L - Autumn Sky - I was desperately trying to capture some photos of one of the 20+ dragonflies that were buzzing around the back garden (it seems our wet summer has brought them out in droves). Alas, I didn't manage to - too damn fast. On my way back inside I saw the early Autumn sky reflected in the window. I liked seeing the lines of the blind...with the clouds. Also added a wee texture from the wonderful Lost & Taken

R - MOUSTACHE - We finally had our housewarming party after a 5 month settling in period (can you believe we've lived here for 5 months already). We had a Beer and Moustache Party which made for some interesting pictures and after looking through my project 365 recently I decided to post this self portrait, it's been while since I did one of those!

Wednesday, March 2, 2011

Week 74

L - A Sea of Bikes - It was an early 5.30am wake up to go and support Shane do his 4th triathlon for the season. It was a very rainy morning and my camera had a few issues - so this is the best from the morning. The sea of bikes was impressive and well....here they are

R - We went to Ikea to get a bed for the mattress we have in the spare room as Mr and Mrs L will be arriving in only 4 weeks. These are some awesome buses and lower manhattan as seen from the Ikea cafe cools huh! from the other window there is a cool view of the statue of liberty! Ikea isn't really know for it's windows but I guess when you have a view like this you have to make the most of it! Also sorry not the best quality as I zoomed in on my phone camera, will promise to take photos with my SLR this weekend!

Tuesday, February 22, 2011

Week 73

L - Lego Cupcakes - This is part of a little project I am working on...I had a great time making the cakes, decorating etc. I just had to share it. Its one for all you Lego lovers out there..!! ;-) The Lego toppers will be coming to an online store soon.

R - Chocolate Crackle Cookies - I made some cookies for a birthday at work - oooh and yum is all I can say!

Wednesday, February 16, 2011

Week 72

L - Who Needs Roses? I got some early Valentines Day flowers on Saturday...perhaps my all time fave type Sunflowers! Shane ordered them specially for me (via his Dad at the flower market) they came with the full stalk on so they were nearly as high as me! They are just so bright and happy looking flowers - I bet you have a smile on your face just looking at them. Haha

R - I did a little photo shoot at the flat iron building a few weeks back in the freezing cold. Can you believe that this is the actual colour of the sky, it's crazy! it was miserable and cold and freezing but I like the way this turned out.

Tuesday, February 8, 2011

Week 72

L - Will the Rain Stop? Australia, mostly in Queensland, has been battered with flooding and Cyclone Yasi. Melbourne although luckily missed all that but the Yasi fall out meant it rained so hard from 5 - 11pm on Friday that the drains couldn't cope. Kids were playing out in the street in the stormwater floods....our back garden was full of water. Up to the top of my wellies....The following day everything was still sprinkled with what looked like little diamonds...sadly rain droplets. ;-)

R - HELLGATE! I went boarding for the first time this year at Hunter Mountain NY and I did my first Black Diamond (really just a hard blue) conditions were "fast and hard, typical East Cost" but I enjoyed myself and it looks like all the indoboarding I've been doing at the gym has paid off because I'm not too sore this morning.

Tuesday, February 1, 2011

Week 70

L - A Wee Burns Night Dram (January 25th) - It may be Australia Day today, but I made sure I didn't overlook Scottish celebrations and had a wee dram for the Baird himself....Robert Burns.

R - We got 15 inches of snow last wednesday, it was so pretty walking to work down the middle of the road. The building in the distance is One Hanson Place, a Brooklyn landmark I walk to every day for the train.

Wednesday, January 26, 2011

Week 69

L - Waterpark Fun - Last weekend we headed off for a family picnic in the sun to an 'adventure park' outside of Melbourne. I use the term adventure loosely, as it was more like 2 water slides, some other random water activities and mini golf that sort of thing. Anyway it was a sunny day and it was more a catch up with Shane's family. This is just a shot of some kids playing in the water jets in the kids area...i like the shadow and reflections here.

R - SubZero - It was *minus* 15 on Monday morning brrrrrrrrrr! I captured this shot of ice on the outside of the bedroom window just as the sun was coming up. I love the heat the sun brought to the right hand side of the photo and the way it kind of looks like an oil slick.

Wednesday, January 19, 2011

Week 68

L - This photo kinda sums up the week for me and the pets last week. It rained and rained and...um...rained. Although safe from the floods...the last week of my holidays were mostly spent cooped up at home and watching for a break in the rain to get outside and do something in the fresh air. My cat took up residence at the front door...staring at the deck in a trance like state hoping for the same break in the weather. This is Missy...waiting it out! She celebrated the end of the rain by sleeping outside all day in the back garden. ;-)

R - Can you imagine the joy when I stumbled across these bad boys in the grocery store. All I need now is some Irn Bru!

Week 67

L - What a hard life, I spent last weekend relaxing down at the beach. This is me taking a break from reading the paper to look out at the beach from the deck of the boat shed where I sat.

R - We had 8 glorious, fluffy as a could, inches of powder last night that made me want to rent a 4x4, grab my board and head for the hills. Instead I donned by wellies and went to work :( but I am looking into options for day trips on the weekends before it all melts.

Week 66

L - Last Sunrise of 2010 - We headed to the mountains after Christmas for the first time in summer and were lucky enough to stay up on the mountain for a couple of nights. By chance, I woke up needing a glass of water and got up to see a beautiful subdued sunrise. The last for the year.

R - We went to a Mad Men themed New Year's Eve party in the Lower East Side, it was lots of fun but I didn't take many pictures. I snapped this just before we left to catch the train, it's a long ride home at 3 in the morning! There are so many graffiti covered bathrooms in NYC, I love this one with the brick and the effect that the urinal is in an alley. I struggled to choose between this photo and one I snapped where we had to change trains on the way home. The subway was a bit of a hot mess, I might have also nearly got in a wee bit of a scuffle because I also took a photo of some kid throwing up on the tracks while his friend held his hair back. His friends however didn't seem my artistic vision and made me delete it. I wish I had my SLR and not the point and shoot because the flash went off and everyone looked my way. It was really amusing you'd have laughed!
